Today was a day o' fun. The morning was spent running errands all over town. There are just some things that can only be done in your hometown! After that, I spent the afternoon with my bestest friend since third grade, Liz. We ate lunch in a fun restaurant in our favorite downtown place - Market Square. Then we wandered around the shops drooling over the expensive boutique items we cannot afford.
It's so bittersweet to see her and her growing boy, Connor. I'm going to miss so much of his life in the next four years! We've already made plans for Liz to come to California, but still... At least we have our weekly "coffee dates" aka Skype dates.
The day ended with a quiet evening with my mom at her house. Josh manned the grill and it was nice to sit back, have a glass of wine, and just BE. Then my friend Val and her friend Paul came over. We had such great conversations and laughter. Val always encourages and inspires my heart! We enjoyed the good company and feel grateful that our friends are making an effort to see us, but also NOT treating this like a "final good-bye." Everyone is so positive and encouraging to us; we know that we WILL be home again and that distance cannot destroy solid, loving friendships.
